Two of the greatest gifts we can give our children are roots and wings
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Mark Twain

Dreams pass into the reality of action. From the actions stems the dream again; and this interdependence produces the highest form of living.
Our website is a way of keeping in touch with family and friends, sharing our sailing and cruising experiences along the way...
We started out on our trip from Durban, South Africa, on the 3rd July 2007, and have been sailing the Indian Ocean, exploring Mozambique, Tanzania, Kilimanjaro, Madagascar, Mayotte, Seychelles, Maldives, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand...

"Life is a succession of lessons which must be lived to be understood."

Life is just a chance to grow a soul and realize that in the end, it's not the years in your life that count - It's the life in your years that count.
When starting out our adventurous sailing trip, we had so many objectives... such as spending quality time with each other; learning to work together; learning about our environment; about the ocean, fish, whales, sharks & dolphins; learning about the true wonders of nature; history and Geography; and more importantly to develop a closer relationship with the Lord and each other.
“Laugh as much as you breathe and love as long as you live.”
The enjoyment we have of meeting new people, listening to their stories; sharing with them, also enjoying the solitude, peace and quiet, watching and learning about the galaxy and the mysteries of the skies....

We have been learning about ourselves, our abilities, learning to trust ourselves; test our limits, being open minded, including making us all more aware of other cultures, their lifestyles, food, language, music and their ways of life.
Also, to teach ourselves, and especially our children, about our own values, principals, and morals.
Having home-schooled our children for the last 8 years, it has opened a door to learning in a different way, which we believe, with an open approach, they will have a better understanding, which will add to a more enriched future!
Although sailing to Thailand was our original goal when we left South Africa, we landed up in other exotic places meeting some wonderful and precious people! ![]()
Also, sadly, we lost a very special sailor and great friend, Ralph on Kai Shara...
We cut our trip short and flew back to SA in April 2008, then flew back end of July 2008, to cross over to Thailand finally!!
Yet, like most cruisers know, our plans are prone to change on short notice! One never really knows ...
