Log 73
Happy New Year to you all!!!! Hoping this year is going to be an amazing year for each and every one of you!! Wow!! 2010 already!! I still cannot believe it!
Well... we have been real busy ourside... we finely managed to lift our legs off the ground at the marina and head out for Telaga which was just awesome!!
It was incredible to be 'sailing' again... YES! Sailing!!! We all got totally roasted by the time we arrived and dropped anchor ... only problem was we were dragging really badly LOL so Jono and I set up the double anchor which works every time!!!
We set to finishing up the props so we could beach on time but the weather changed... I swear the moment it saw us head for Telaga as there is not once that it has not rained when we arrived!!
Anyways, we found we never had the primer paint we thought we had, then the nozzel broke on the can we were using splattering black paint EVERYWHERE!! Johns hands and the dingy and the cockpit was sprinkled black .... anyway, the following morning it was pouring down, and John managed to get a bike through Willie, so we could get to town to get the stuff we needed.... so now the next day was the day!! We HAD to beach or miss the time period!!! So we checked the area for stones or big shells (Yea right! hehe) then got the stuff out we would need to clean bluemoon and do the props...
The following day was beautiful!! Well ... till it was time to beach her!!!! Those big black clouds were gathering fast and so we went ahead regardless and beached.....
We found to our delight, Bluemoon was not bad at all!! There was only one barnacle!! Imagine that!!! Henry, Fakhrace, Amanda and Muiz came onto bluemoon before we beached and so jumped into the water with the rest of us to clean and wipe bluemoon down... Amanda was already flue-ee and Henry was moaning at her as they had sailed the following day with Henry from Kuah also to Telaga.
We changed the props and noticed the scraping from the Sumatra!! Where the chain had hooked!! We are still amazed we got out of that situation without real damage!!
By early evening the storm had arrived!!! Lightening, Thunder... the works!!! Boy oh boy had we just finished in time!!! The kids went to get take-aways and we all were only too happy to have a full tummy as we were exhausted, cold and hungry!!
We got off at about 11pm that night and did some nice zigzagging till we dropped anchor in a calm sea..... the props felt fantastic!!! We could move and have control which was just so exciting!!!
The following day we headed back for Kuah where we anchored and spent the night, then headed for the marina the following day...
Took quite a while sorting out the kids paperwork which we had to send off.... then we packed our backpacks and headed for the airport... Everything went just so smoothly!!! We arrived at our hotel - signed in, then headed for the main drag and went sightseeing and Christmas Shopping!!
It was just to wonderful for words!!! Langkawi being Muslim, you never got to hear Christmas songs, or carols, but in KL, where it is multicultured, they were playing all the carols we are used to and have missed for three whole years!!! It was such and awesome feeling!!!
These shopping malls are SO huge!!!!! We almost felt like we were in America with all the Christmas Decorations!!! it was such a treat!!!! Wow!!! We really walked everywhere, even got lost!!!! So with our feet burning, our hands full we stopped off at our Paradise resurant and orderd takeaways.... Briyani - yet we were already so full from all the snacking we had done.... we felt like real spoilt kids!!!
Got back real late, ate while we watched TV!!!!!!!!! heheheheheh It was kinda familiar, yet so strange!! When you have not watched TV for a few years, you will know what I mean LOL
We went to the High commission and did what we had to do... we then walked to the bus terminal, caught a bus which is an hour and a half to the airport... had more coffee than we could count... and just relaxed till it was our flight... (the waiting was because the flight was delayed by over an hour)
The weather was not so good as it was VERY windy and the rain had started... so we had a rather bumpy ride, yet no worries ![]()
We arrived back in Langkawi to lovely weather!!
Shopping was on the agenda for the following day - 24th Dec.... and so bought bacon, chops and steaks which we have not had in over a year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You guys have no idea how lucky you actually are with all the choices of meat!!!! hehehe
We were going to leave the marina, but with the wind howling we decided to stay right here and had a wonderful time!! Christmas eve was just such fun! We had seafood, and a roast chicken!! With most of the toppings!!! Christmas day we braaid and had just as much fun!!! Opening our gifts surprised us all!!! We all went the full 100 yards and were all very pleased!!
With our niece's travel dates postponed, we were going to head for Thailand, yet were asked very kindly to join the International regatta..... so we decided to join.... and take part of this race... so we have all been busy checking the rigging, greasing up the steering, sorting out the sheets, sails etc, etc.... all excited to give our best!!!!
Sitting here after a very busy day, showered, watching the rain disappear, reflecting on the last year... with a good cuppa RICOFFY makes me realize what a full and busy year we had !!!! I am almost finished with a movie project of putting all the months events onto and wow..... I cannot believe how active we have been!!
So many things we have done!! This year was an all rounder... good, bad, funny, sad.... and I am only too happy to be facing a clean slate with so much out there that still needs to be done!!!!
So many want to do's that need to be put into action.... so many fun projects John and I have lined up.... wow.... cannot wait to start all these things at once and also squeeze in a few good books!!! lol
Hoping to hear from EACH and everyone of you guys reading this log!!!! We think of you all often and cannot wait to hear all your news!!!!! i also am expectant to hear what you all plan to do this year that is something you have never done before!!!!
Till more news on how we are doing with the regatta..... keep your chins up and live life to the fullest!!!!!
Love always John Jenny Justine Jessica and Jonathan
